On 31 March 2026, the CARES project webinar brought together social workers, care assistants, caregivers and other interested professionals to present the project’s objectives, activities and results.
CARES – Caregivers Advancing Regulatory Environment and Skills – aims to strengthen the wellbeing of professionals working in the care sector by promoting supportive environments, diversity and inclusion. The project also focuses on improving mental wellbeing, digital skills and sustainable practices in response to the challenges often experienced in care work, including workload pressure, fatigue and job insecurity.
During the webinar, participants were introduced to the broader European care context and to the findings of a Lithuanian survey conducted in February–March 2025 with 149 social care professionals. The results highlighted the importance of communication, problem-solving, empathy, teamwork and dignity-based practice, while heavy workload, unclear tasks, changes in regulation and lack of support at work emerged as important stress and burnout factors.
The webinar also presented the CARES digital platform, which offers practical learning resources on topics such as artificial intelligence and digital communication in social work, wellbeing tools and assistive technologies, emotional intelligence, intersectionality and self-advocacy, social entrepreneurship, climate change and wellbeing, stress management, trauma-informed approaches, fear and anxiety management, and work–life balance.
The CARES webinar concluded with questions and discussion, underlining the importance of accessible, practical and future-oriented learning opportunities for professionals working in care and social support.
